TIMEsink REVIEW: Upgrade Complete

Game developers are becoming a little more self-aware, and the creators of online games are on the frontlines when it comes to open mockery of some concepts which run throughout modern gaming.

Upgrade Complete is one of those. Everything in the game needs to be earned - purchasing using coins gained during the gameplay itself, a basic shoot-em-up. And when I say "everything", I DO mean "EVERYTHING"... including the preloader, the main menu, and THE OPTION TO PLAY THE GAME ITSELF (don't worry - you start with just enough coins to purchase the gameplay you'll need to earn more).

Upgrades are everything in this game - from improving the ship which you fly in the game itself with more weapons and utilities, to improving the options available to you - including sound, better graphics, and removing an annoying hum which seems to play over the game. Anything for an incentive to upgrade, eh?

Alun's Timesink Rating: 2. The game itself is short, but you can also play its two sequels, which take the game to further and more ridiculous heights.
